Bits and pieces...

Uneasy thoughts keep appearing in my mind today. Today is Joy's last day in formal school as pre kindergartner. Since its already holiday for me, I sent her to school, with mixed feelings. After today, Joy will not be under the care of her teacher Anna. She has done so much for her this year.
Next year Joy will be in Kindy 1. She will have a new teacher and different classmates. Not all her classmates now will be in the same class. They will have streaming and students will be grouped according to their different learning capability. I wonder which group will Joy be in. She does not have much to show academic wise. Only those teachers who took care of her before will notice her improvements in other areas. - her eye contact, ability to sit still, etc,etc... In other words, her ability to take care of herself.
As I watched other mothers chatted freely about their children, I felt so self conscious. Though we have children of the same age, but Joy's requirements are different and my concern for her is different from other mothers. They were discussing about their children's achievements and extra classes and activities and their antics at home.
My little Joy have different achievements and antics that seemed nothing compared to their children. They are able to learn so naturally, it does not even seem learning to them. To listen and understand instructions, to sit still, to go to the toilet by oneself, to pronounce simple words.....
I know I should be grateful. Joy has been blessed with a wonderful teacher. I pray that her new teacher will be as wonderful. But I guess there will still be a tinge of disappointment. Perhaps this will fade as the years go by, but until then..... Life has to go on.
