First Christmas Party

My little boy went to his very first Christmas Party on Saturday, held by his new Kindergarten. He was not feeling well, but insisted on going - but he asked to go back, right after we arrived. He was overwhelmed by all 60-70 children and teachers. With everyone talking, younger children crying, the music and movements everywhere, he didn't know where to look. 

But he was happy to wait for these. In fact, it was the only thing he ate during the party.

And these too. After 2 rounds of games (passing the balloon, and musical chair), I suggested that it's time for him to go home earlier for his medicine. I nearly forgot about the  RM10 gifts exchange among the students. But my boy is not one to leave without his gifts.

Santa is being very generous.

He left with a bag of goodies. 

What's your wish from Santa this year? 

I did not want anything material. I only want my children to grow up healthy and learn the many virtues in Christ. And I wish that my daughter will be able to cope in her primary school, with loving, understanding and accepting teachers and friends. My son is going to a new kindergarten for Kindy 1. I hope that he will make new friends, learn new things and love his kindy years. Next year will be a challenging year for both hubby and me, in career and family challenges, I hope we will have the strength to face every challenges, and trust that God knows what He is doing. 

Weekly round up #3

I am going to start off the first day of 2012 with a positive and encouraging news. Last night, we went to Popular book store and the kids get to choose something to buy. Jay, who is very into train nowadays, quickly spotted a Train treading board. Its a fun way to reinforce the letter 'T' we are doing for these 2 weeks, with extra colour recognition, and fine motor in treading. Joy initially chose a thick chinese story book, full of words (which of course, is not suitable for her). She chose it merely because the cover has the picture of a mermaid. Hubby put it back and pulled her away from the section. The girl cried softly and said, "Wo yao a." (I want it). So, we searched children's section for another book about mermaid and she is satisfied.

Well, this is what we have been doing for the past week.

Opening Christmas presents from Santa. Jay got a wooden alphabet train and a Jesus Loves You story book.
(Now Jay keeps talking about Santa and singing Christmas song and birthday song to Jesus.)

Joy got a dolphin puzzles and a  Kids National Geographic Dolphin book. (I had to order this online)

Colour the picture following the example given. Jay had to learn to choose the correct shades of colour.

Did this early in the morning, before I rushed work for the whole day. Jay loves painting.

Train treading board Jay chose yesterday. This is his first attempt doing a board treading. Needs more practice.

A cute train made after he finished treading all the 4 boards. now I just hope he will  play with it long enough.

Others:

1. Joy doing her dolphin puzzles all the time. Jay will do it together when sister is in good mood of sharing. They also did other board puzzles separately when they are not in the mood of sharing.

3. Jay learnt to get his own drink from the kitchen. He is so proud of himself.

4. Joy starts getting vocal again. Yipee!

5. Watched Christmas with Mickey and his friends. A 3D movie. A nice change from their usual cartoony movies.

6. Watched Thomas the Train 3D movie. A first for Jay. He loved it. He even can sing (hummed) the song.

7. Joy sleeps a lot this week. I was initially worried, but she seems very refreshed after sleep. So, perhaps its just a phase where she needs more sleep than usual.

Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas to all! I am rather excited for this day to arrive. This year is considered the first year we actually celebrate christmas with the children. (in the past years with Joy she does not show much response when we show her the various christmas tree around town, except for the attempt to grab at the ornaments. She was not even interested in the presents we gave her. This year, with Jay a bit older, he understands that this day is a special day - where he gets to receive presents, and sings birthday song - but after a few times singing for Jesus, he sings birthday songs for himself. :) he thinks that any day when he receive presents must be his birthday. Only this time, he sings the christmas songs too. Jingle bell, Jingle bell, Jingle all the way......)

Here I am, sitting on my bed, with my ipad. I don't dare to go down yet. Joy is wide awake, and she would follow me down if I do. Hubby and Jay is still fast asleep. Last night, we told Jay that santa is coming if he is a good boy. He immediately helped me clean up the toys in the living room, and went to bed early. In the middle of the night, he woke up for toilet, and I heard him singing Jingle bell, before he fell asleep again.
We arranged their presents from santa downstairs. Now I can't wait for them to WAKE UP!

*just noticed the date for this post. Its a day late. Today is 25th od December 2011 - Christmas Day! Now I must figure out how to change the setting so the dates will tally. Hmmm...

While they were having a nap...

Nativity Scene

Actually only Jay is having his nap. Joy is doing various things, from looking at her books, asking me to read, playing with mega blocks, colouring and drinking her milk. Between reading and watching over her, I made this. Actually I've meant to do something like this when Joy was 2 years old, but I got carried away with her diagnosis that I lose heart even in celebrating Christmas. This year, I will try to make sure that they understand  why we celebrate Christmas. I guess the first thing that comes to my mind is the Nativity scene. Christmas is when we celebrate Jesus's birthday. (and Jay LOVES birthdays). By the way, I printed this from one of the blogs I followed.(http://amyswandering.wordpress.com)
