Year end updates on my boy!

I've been keeping some news (and photos) to myself and waiting for the proper time to make a grand post of my son. He has certainly made me so proud of him.

I think this is his first drawing with people in the scene.
There are quite a few others - there's one with a whole team of basketball players playing basketball. Anyway, I took this picture for keepsake. It's not easy to keep up with his arts as he either colours or draws all the time, whenever he is free, on any piece of paper.

He's very keen on home laid eggs... in fact, he only takes eggs laid by the hens in my in-law's backyard. He observes closely whenever any hen flew into the box, clucks and flew away.... he even taught me how to know if the hens laid eggs in the box. Then he took it as his responsibility to collect the eggs.

He begged to participate in singing competitions. As of now, he sang in 7 different occasions on-stage. He had his eyes on the bigger trophies, but is just as happy to get the consolation trophies. I am just as happy that he enjoyed the experience - frankly I don't really like the way the competitions were organized. nuff said. Anyway, I doubt that he will get these chances when we change his kindergarten next year.

He did well in his piano lessons too. I sat in for 15 minutes during one of his lessons. What can I say.... I don't play piano... and I am really amazed with what he knew. Well, at least, he knew something that I'm struggling to learn.... hahaha.
I know, I am soooooo not musically inclined.

Anyway, I am still waiting for his last 'semester' paper. He has been complaining that I did not help him do revisions with his school books - that's the reason he didn't get more 100 marks. Well, I am guilty as charged. I really did not mind his marks on paper, as long as I know he is learning well. Besides, he goes to school for 2 sessions - morning AND afternoon- the teachers have ample time to do revisions.
I just focused on more interesting things I can prepare on the whim without worrying if it tallies with the books in school. Another reason is that the teacher and I discovered that too much repetitions bore him. So I need to provide him with new things just to keep him interested. And I love it when he shows such interest in new things and information.

'Till then......

Allow me to dream....

I think I am going to make a series of this 'dreaming' thingy. hi hi hi.... It helps me to get away from reality, yet keeps me rooted and reminds me of my passions... whatever. Anyway, even if it's just a dream...

I dreamt of growing my own garden. In future. I was hardly the type that would get my feet and hands dirty, sweating over a piece of land. But recently I began to appreciate the value of growing our own food, in our own backyard.

My mother in law and her mother are homemakers. They grow vegetables and coconuts in their backyard. Both of them grow different kinds of vegetables and exchange them for variety in their meals. My small family of 4 has enjoyed fresh vegetables from their garden for several years. Not to mention the coconuts. I really appreciated having nice, cooling coconut drinks when the weather is hot. Sometimes, when their garden produces more than we consume, they even managed to trade the old barter system in the nearby market - for other stuff they need.

My interest is aroused towards gardening when I see how much it would benefit our health, and at the same time, to save more money spent on food. So I began to search on the internet. One particular blog caught my attention.  I have not read this http://www.fusianliving.com/ thoroughly, but I am certainly going to comb through it. Some of the things the writer shared could be applied in Malaysia's climate, while others need to be modified. Well.... wish me luck! (I wonder when will we finish 'processing' the small piece of land we have in our back yard. I'll keep you posted. IF it happens. I am not promising anything)

Allow me to dream....

I love to dream. I love interior designs. So, when I get to add these two together...

I dream of a big, airy room for my kids to play and study. Where I can keep all my books and learning materials. I dream of the room to be assessable from the kitchen, and there's a window where I can look in from the kitchen into the room - to check on them. And I dream of my living room in tip top order, without the mess, because the playroom is just beside it. No toys are allowed in the living room. Just let me dream... Coz, this is what keeps me going....
