Little Brother updates

It has been awhile since I wrote anything about my dear son. He has been improving and continues to amaze us everyday. I think I'm just going to make a list of his recent achievements (and hope that I can keep up the updates regularly)

At the age of 43 months;
1. Loves to bargain and reasons with us to get his own way. He would even plan out our day for us, so that he could get what he wants.

2. Loves singing. He has been singing English songs, Chinese songs and BM songs. He can sing our national anthems too. He can also recite the lyrics of some songs spontaneously. Soooo.... cute! He is also enjoying and singing popular Hymms. And he continues to create his own lyrics from songs he is familiar with - just like his daddy. They are so funny. I think my boy is musically inclined.

3. He is praying Thanksgiving prayers at night in both English and Chinese. He can almost fully recite the Our Father, and even sing it. (of course with some wrong pronunciation)

4. Showing a lot of interest in GOD. He loves listening to the Bible stories, and asks a lot of questions about Jesus and linking to everyday life. eg. He has a red birthmark shaped like a heart. I told him that God loves him so much that He gave him this birthmark to show how much He loved him. This little boy asks everyone in the family about their birthmarks. When he discovered his aunt did not have a birthmark - he proudly told her that God loves him more than his aunt. - just shows how innocent a child could be.

5. Showing more independence. He finds his own clothes, changes clothes by himself (with minimal help with  shirts and buttons) and he is now in the phase where he is particular with clothes that matches. He would observe other people's clothes and made comments whether the clothes match.

6. Has been a great help at home. Every afternoon after I fetched them home, he would help me pick up the toys in the living room.

7. Laughs at his own mistakes and sometimes even made jokes.

8. Does his school homework by himself. (sometimes demanding that we sit there to watch him) - but overall, his school homework is way too easy for him. He finds his own entertainment, and learns almost all the time though I admit that I did not purposely plan much activities with him in the past 1 month.

9. Is starting to link items to it's price. He is beginning to realise the value of money.

10. He can even recite the 'Di Zhi Gui' - Chinese 3 word phrases. We are so surprised when he brought home the book and he can recite half of it. Now I am getting him to start memorizing Bible verses.

11. He is now out of the phase where he just observe and refuse to participate. He now loves to please and does his best to get an applause. He is among the few in his class who will come back from school and tell us to buy or prepare things that his teacher ask for. So far, he brought egg, onion, flower pot, watermelon, mango and even asks us for money to pay for his class photo. oh... he would tell me when his school is having holiday or when there are any special activities.

12. He talks about his friends all the time. I would know when a friend has birthday, when his teacher is not feeling well, and : ( even tells me when a friend hurt him - pushed him too hard and he fell, uses workbook to hit him on the head, pinched his ears. But I think these are minor incidents. He would tell his teacher and the friend would be asked to say sorry and they are friends again. This is a way for him to learn to forgive and forget. And to understand that hitting is not good. I would not be able to shelter him from violence, but hopefully he can learn to handle them properly. (He stopped complaining after I told him how God is in his heart and will protect him from all harm) He would tell me what actions are good and what actions that God does not like.
