Teaching Students with Autistic Spectrum Disorders to read

I have been on Google almost all morning, trying to find ideas for Joy's reading. It's not clear how much she is retaining from phonemic approach, and I don't feel like taking the wait and see approach either. I came across this article which enlightened me, and seems to be another method I had to try. If done properly, Joy might even be able to incorporate this as her communication method - in her PECS.
