Opposite of advanced?

I talked to Joy's teacher too. I was very surprised to see such a young teacher. She could be younger than me. Joy was supposed to be in another class, but they changed her to this young teacher, without notifying me. I am not against the change, but I've seen parents who rejected this new teacher and insists that her child change to Joy's original class. (I mean... she looks really young, and this is her first year. Can't blame the parents if they have no confidence in her) My guess is that they simply exchange the students. One of mine ran to yours.... you give me one of yours. Sigh. I am praying hard that this teacher will have the motivation of a newbie to learn how to handle her students and Joy.

My comfort is that now Joy is in a much smaller class of 14 students, (previously 32) which mean that the teacher will be able to pay more attention to her. She also has some of her friends from last year's class in the same class. The teacher told me that they have been helping Joy and very considerate towards her.

I am very surprised that Joy is even using her PECS fully. Last year, she would only show her teacher the picture of 'toilet' or 'milk' to express her needs. This time, she made sentences ' I want toilet', 'I want milk'. I am not sure if the teacher taught her to do this, or she did it by herself. This is certainly something that makes me feel relieved. (she has not been using the PECS book for almost 2 months, during school holiday)

On the other hand, Joy brought home some workbooks that 'scared' me. Wow, she did not even master her last year's workbook, and these new workbooks seems more difficult. I am going to have a hard time ahead. Praying. Praying. Praying. Amen.
