I logged in today and noticed that I have not posted anything for almost 3 weeks. But I think I have good reasons for this. A lot of things happened that I needed time get myself grounded and pull myself together. For a start, I have been cleaning the house, trying to minimize our things and get our life more structured. (yeah.... have been trying to do this for the past few years.... still trying, though). Second, after the school holiday, I have to gear up and intensify on my students' revision. The half semester is so short and their next exam is just around the corner. That makes things rather hectic.
Another reason, is that I have rushed to my hometown (which is 1 hour drive away) many times, to visit my grandmother - at first for her 90+ birthday, then a few days after, to visit her as she is getting critically ill. She has been asking to see me, as her eldest granddaughter. In our extended family, the position as the eldest in everything is important. My big brother is the eldest grandson, and naturally I am the eldest grand daughter (since my father is the eldest son). Anyway, we were all hoping that she could pull it through this time too. She has been ailing for a few years, and was so frail and weak.
But God loves her and decided that it is time for her to have eternal rest. When it is finally time for her to go, with the traditional ceremony done according to her wishes, all memories of her flashed through my mind. Tears flow as I watched my father as the eldest trying to be strong and so determined to do everything right for the last time for his dear mother.
My grandmother has been the one to keep the family together. After our grandfather died many years ago... she has been our magnet. Pulling us together during festivals and celebrations. I was brought up by her until I reached school age and was very close to her during my formative years.
I was wordless for a time, not knowing what to write. Yet, I wanted to write something in her remembrance. She has definitely taught me many things, and even with her death, she reminds me to appreciate life. As I see her children, all of which have their own family, some even have grandchildren of their own... I see the fruits that she left behind, to continue to bear fruits and be blessings to others. I know that she will be reunited with my grandfather and be in peace, knowing that she is done with her duties on earth.
Mostly about my children, reaching their milestones, each in their own pace. Added with a dash of mummy rantings now and then. Also get a glimpse of how God's Grace helps us through the ups and downs in life.
